Rhinoplasty
No heavy lifting >20lbs or heavy exercise for 7 days
Follow-up in clinic at SHC in 3-4 days, if Doyle Splints were used, we will remove them at this appointment. We will also remove the external nasal splint/nasal dressing, or subsequent appointments.
You will be given prescription for Codeine (or equivalent). This can be taken on an as needed basis for pain not controlled by regular acetaminophen and ibuprofen
You can take 1000mg of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and 400mg of ibuprofen (Advil) every 6 hours unless otherwise directed.
Begin sinus rinsing with a Neil Med Sinus rinse or equivalent sinus squeeze bottle the morning after your operation.
See Epistaxis information to manage a nosebleed. If bleeding continues despite these recommendations, call the clinic (during normal business hours) or proceed to the emergency department in order to receive treatment.
There can be significant swelling and bruising of the nose postoperatively. Elevation of the head of the bed and applying ice to the dorsum of the nose can be helpful if significant swelling occurs.
