Ear Surgery
Tympanoplasty, Ossiculoplasty, Stapedotomy,
Canalplasty, Mastoidectomy
No heavy lifting >20lbs or heavy exercise for 7 days
No nose blowing x 2 weeks, no flying x 4 weeks
Follow-up in clinic at SHC in 1 week, your sutures are absorbable and you can shower the morning after your surgery.
You will likely be prescribed ciprodex drops - please remove the cotton ball from your ear and use as directed until seen in followup at the SHC. Keep the ear clean and dry otherwise.
You will be given a prescription for Codeine (or equivalent). This can be taken on an as needed basis for pain not controlled by regular acetaminophen and ibuprofen
You can take 1000mg of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and 400mg of ibuprofen (Advil) every 6 hours unless otherwise directed.
